Week 7: Chatty Cathy

This week has been another fun week in our house. Mom had to go into work for two fully days this week which was harder for her, I think, than for Hadley. Grandmas Sheri and Judy stepped up and watched her for the two days Mom had to work, and I think it went really well.

Hadley is continuing to jabber away any time she is awake, and Mom and Dad have had to adjust to it. She used to only make noise when she wanted something, but now she just makes sounds to make sounds for fun. It's been really funny watching them talk to her. I try to talk to her too, but she doesn't speak doggie yet. Hopefully she will sometime soon. I'd love to be able to talk to her more.

Week 6: Dream On

Bean hit the big 6 week mark this week which is very exciting. She's smiling and happy - and she's starting to dream more which is funny. At night, she "meep meeps" a lot in her sleep. Sometimes it's cute. Other times it wakes her up and then she's a little sad. But that's ok! Mom and Dad are really good at coming into her room and rocking her back to sleep. I try to comfort her as well, but she doesn't always love my wet nose at 2am.

Her favorite toys right now are Mr. Birdie and Mr. Octopus. She LOVES talking to them in the mornings when she's getting ready. And tummy time - woah. It is her favorite activity in the entire world. Hadley and Mom go on walks with their other friends with babies during the work day while Dad and I go to work. It's a hard job, but someone has to do it!

Mom and Dad are working on giving Hadley a night time routine with the 4 Bs: bath, book, bottle and bed. It's going pretty well, and Hadley usually sleeps for about 6 hours before she wakes up (usually around 4am). Then, she goes right back to sleep after a bottle.

Week 5: Getting the hang of things

Oh readers: I am so sorry. I am slacking with my posts! But watching Baby Hadley each day has been very distracting, and I like to use my free time to nap and play sock with anyone who will throw it for me. In any event, it has been a busy week for us. Hadley is gaining weight by leaps and bounds. She's 9 pounds now and doesn't fit in her newborn clothes anymore. Mom had to pack them away which made her kind of sad. This baby isn't so small anymore! She's got big, chunky cheeks which makes her look a lot like Mom. Mom stopped pumping this week so Hadley is just eating formula now and she's just fine with that. As long as she's getting food, she's really happy. Last night, she slept from 10:30pm - 4am and then slept again from 5am - 8am. I actually woke up before she did. It was pretty great.

Also this week, we got the photos back from her newborn photo session. Click here to go to our photographer's blog page with an awesome slideshow. Hadley is just the most super cute baby ever! http://www.jennifermauren.com/hadley/

Mom and Dad have been so lucky to get lots of dates with and without Hadley thanks to the awesome babysitting skills of Grammy Babiarz and Grandma Hughes. They've been really awesome, although both grandmas dislike playing sock with me. I'm working on it, but it's a slow process. Hadley and Mom also have fun dates with Erica and Hartley. Erica is Mom's friend and Hartley is Hadley's friend. The ladies all meet up at least once a week for a stroller 5k walk. Apparently, it is lots of fun.

Happy 1 Month Birthday Hadley!!

Mom here. This month has really flown by, and Hadley is continuing to develop more and more of a personality every day. She loves tummy time and snuggling with me and Bruce in the mornings. She is a sweet natured and adorably easy baby. She's happy and enjoys sleeping - which has worked out really well for me and Bruce. She sleeps in her big girl crib at night, loves lounging in her Boppy during the day, has a lot of fun during tummy time, and enjoys going for rides and errands with me and Bruce. Her favorite toys are Mr. Octopus and Mr. Birdie, which were gifts from our friends Bryan and Jess - thanks you guys! Hadley rocks a mohawk hairstyle every day. She's got a few nicknames: munkin, baby doll, Haddles, Hads, Hadley Hoodle just to name a few. Bruce and I are both shouldering the parent duties pretty well and starting to find a routine that works.

Being a baby is hard work
We've been so lucky to have a TON of support and help from our friends and family. It has made this time even more special, and it has allowed me and Bruce out for a few date nights already. Enjoy these photos from her one month birthday. She is such a treat!

Week 3: Merry Christmas!

This week was so much fun! Hadley had her first Christmas, I hosted a bunch of people at our house for Christmas dinner including my cousin Tucker, Mom and Dad got an awesome update from Hadley's doctor (she gained 8 ozs in one week!), and everyone is super happy and healthy.

Hadley went to Christmas Eve service with Mom, Dad, Grammy and Great Grandpa and she did, well, not great. I mean, she dressed up really nicely and tried super hard to be good, but she was hungry and very hot. So, Mom and Dad took turns staying outside the chapel with her until the very end of the service. Hadley managed to pull herself together for the final few songs. Hopefully next year will be better!

It has been a great year for our family, and we can't wait for the cool things 2015 will bring!
