Week 19: Virgin mango daiquiri for one!

Week 19 - so close to halfway there. Bean is the size of a mango this week and is starting to develop his/her five senses. Bean's also still wiggling around a lot, and Mom hopes Dad will be able to feel some of it soon.

Speaking of big things --- we find out whether Bean is a boy or a girl on Monday!!! Keep your eyes peeled for a special gender post on Monday night. Don't worry, readers. I won't leave you hanging!  Start placing your bets now....

Mom and Bean at 19 weeks - she's still smiling!
That's a good sign.
In other news, Mom and Dad bought a Snoogle pregnancy pillow so that Mom could start sleeping a little more soundly.  That's good for me too, because she's been waking me up at all hours of the night readjusting pillows and going to the bathroom. Ugh.  But the Snoogle is amazing. It's a gigantic "C" shaped pillow....and I LOVE it.

Me....snuggling with the Snoogle. It's heavenly.

Week 18: Sweet Poe-ta-toe (da, da, da)

This week, my inspiration is 'merica!!  And Neil Diamond! So now I have "Sweet Caroline" stuck in my head which sounds a lot like Sweet Poe-ta-toe... or maybe not. This week was hard.  Bean is the size of a sweet potato.  Mom is the size of a pregnant woman. Dad pretty much looks the same.

Bean is moving around like crazy and now spends time during the day yawning, hiccuping, and wiggling around.  Mom's back has started aching if she sits or stands for too long, but Dad has been doing a great job giving back rubs. And I'm still really good at snuggling....which I hear is great for back aches.

This week we celebrated Independence Day by staying at home and lounging on the couch. Mom and Dad got back from a great trip up north, and I had a wonderful time with Grandma and Grandpa Hughes. But we were tired. So we ate yummy home-cooked food, Mom, Dad, and Bean spent some time on a boat, and I caught up on my beauty rest. It's been great!

Mom and Bean at 18 weeks - She looks pregnant now!

So happy to have my buddies home.

Week 17: Lots of layers

Bean is the size of an onion this week - which is weird. So I'm also going to say Bean is the size of a softball because those have a tendency to be less smelly.  Anyway, Mom feels Bean moving around a lot and is also starting to get winded really easily. Walking up a flight of stairs is tricky, and Mom and Dad know it's only going to get worse as time goes on.

I'm spending the week with Grandma and Grandpa Hughes while Mom, Dad, and Bean vacation in Maine and Massachusetts.  That's why my post was late - Mom didn't send me an update on Bean in a timely manner. Something about bad internet service. I'm jealous, but I know they're getting me great presents while they travel.  Here are some photos Mom sent to me today to post to the blog. Hope everyone is having a great week!

Week 16: When life hands you avocados, make guacamole!

True story: I love guacamole. It is delicious. Mom and Dad love it too. I assume that Bean will love it as well.
Anyway - Bean's the size of an avocado this week. This means that Bean can hear (finally - now I'm not the only one Mom can talk to in the morning), is growing eyebrows and eye lashes (hopefully super duper really pretty long ones), and is forming taste buds.  Big things happening this week for Bean.

Mom is feeling really good this week and her bump is still growing!  We had a doctor's appointment on Monday. It wasn't one with an ultrasound, so we didn't get to see Bean, but we got to hear his/her heartbeat. It was strong and very healthy.  Mom is starting to feel little tiny movements from the baby. I can't feel anything yet, but she thinks in a few weeks Dad and I will be able to feel some kicks on the outside of her belly.

Mom and Bean at 16 weeks

I wanted to be in the picture, but I was having a hard time sitting still.
My bad.
Dad enjoyed celebrating his first Father's-to-be Day with some golf and presents from me, Mom, and Bean. I bought Dad socks, lots of socks, since I have a tendency to ruin the ones he has.  Mom bought dad a cool new coffee mug, and Bean got him this awesome gift:

Bean's first purchase for Dad - I think it's really cute, but very small.
Babies are small, you guys.

We've also been getting some really fabulous gifts from friends and family. Mom's Aunt Kim and cousin Kellie sent Bean two fantastic books for Bean's library, and Mom's friend Julie had this adorable nappy made for Bean.  This baby is going to be so loved and so spoiled.  I've already decided to share my toys with the baby.  I'm assuming that Bean is also going to share toys with me.  That's the deal with siblings, right? You share???

Baby books and an adorable personalized nappy.
Thanks everyone!!! XOXO

Week 15: Orange you glad I didn't say orange?

And away we go! Happy Friday to all of my readers. This post is going to be fairly short because....nothing is really that new.  Mom has been feeling pretty much the same (i.e. normal) and her bump is slowly starting to get a little bigger. She's starting to have some growing pains now. She can definitely feel her belly starting to get bigger.  This week Bean is the size of a navel orange - I think that's a lot of growth over one week.

Mom and Dad bought Bean's baby furniture this week but it's going to be a few months before the room is ready for pictures.  They're still not sure what we're having (again, my guess is Poodle but that's just because of how Mom's carrying), but once we do I'll make sure to get some good photos. The big news in the house is that the World Cup started this week. Dad helped Mom become a big soccer fan when they started dating, and I'm doing my best to follow along. Mostly, I just don't understand why there aren't any dogs on the field to help herd the ball.  Big mistake on FIFA's part, in my opinion.

Hope everyone has a great week!!

Week 14: Meyer Lemon

When life gives you lemons, it might be a baby in disguise! This week, Bean is the size of a lemon. Bean has eyebrows now and is able to suck his/her thumb. Bean's also growing peach fuzz all over his/her body which will keep Bean warm and toasty.  Weird! Mom and Dad are enjoying watching the bump grow and everyone is starting to notice, even strangers.  Mom and Dad are also enjoying the pool and beach as a way to cool off. It's been really hot already this season here in Florida. I'm sure that will start to bother Mom at some point, but so far, so good.

Mom's Week 14 bump... definitely getting bigger.

So, why did I choose Meyer Lemon as my post title? We had a big week in our house. Mom volunteered to be a host for the Gettysburg College summer externship program.  That meant that this week, I made a new best friend. Her name is Laura Meyer (get it?? Meyer?? It's perfect!!!). She's a rising junior and an English major at Gettysburg College, a magical place where dreams come true. She let me snuggle with her, play fetch with my socks, and she even let me jump on her bed in the mornings. It was so much fun. I hope she comes back to stay with us soon!

Laura and Mom on her final day at work at New College

I had a really great week, but it definitely tired me out. I'm looking forward to a relaxing weekend of couch naps and watching Season 2 of Orange is the New Black. Crazy Eyes is just my favorite character of all time. She's hysterical!

So sleepy - nap time for me!
